Florin Tincescu will be stepping into the unknown this week and it’s all thanks to the support he’s getting from the Napoca Rally Academy.
The Romanian organisation runs rally teams, provides driver training from bases in Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu and Bucharest, promotes initiatives to improve behaviour behind the wheel and arranges driving-based team-building exercises. It is also registered for the FIA ERC Production Car Cup for Teams.
For Tincescu, round four of the FIA European Rally Championship, SATA Rallye Açores represents his first event outside of his native Romania.
“I can’t expect to start in this event and I hope to impress with the Dacia Logan,” said Tincescu (pictured). “Our single objective is to make a good show and to finish the rally because we want to gain experience in international rallies.”
In total there will be five drivers competing under the Napoca Rally Academy banner in Açores. Marco and Simone Tempestini will chase ERC Production Car Cup points and will be joined by team newcomer Alessandro Bruscheta from Italy, while ERC Ladies’ Trophy leader Ekaterina Stratieva will go for glory in the ERC 2WD Championship where her rivals will include Tincescu.
“When we decided to enter our team in the ERC our goal was to help also other drivers to start in the ERC,” said Marco Tempestini, the driving force behind the Napoca Rally Academy. “For Açores we have Florin Tincescu with a Dacia Logan a first also for our driver, but also for the Romanian national car brand. In this event also Ekaterina Stratieva and Alessandro Bruscheta will start under the colours of Napoca Rally Academy and we are proud to support them. It’s amazing what Eurosport achieved in such a short time and for us it is very important to have live coverage form the stages. The live broadcasting for this event is amazing and I hope that all our fans in Romania will support us during this event.”
